CAREER SUMMARY

I graduated from the University of Wales and carried out post graduate studies in Birmingham, partly sponsored by the UK Government and ALCOA. I am a registered CEng and have been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

My experience has included senior positions with two of the world’s leading Companies associated with the metallurgical industry.

The basis of my experience was a career with ALCOA, including living and working in the USA. This experience involved all the major elements of aluminium production from smelting, casting, rolling to foil production, covering work hardening alloys, heat treatable alloys, general purpose and canstock production.

While at DAVY I had overall executive responsibility all rolling mill equipment designed to roll aluminium, steel, stainless steel and non ferrous metals plus the technical content of some of the largest aluminium projects in the world at that time.

I decided to become independent as a Consultant about 10 years ago (UK Consulting and Associates) with the objective of supplying high quality, independent, technical, metallurgical engineering and management services advice to aluminium producers over short/medium term periods at competitive rates compared to other Contractors or Consulting Organisations in the field who have high overheads to consider. Activities are on an International basis and aim to assist those with limited resources with specific issues to resolve. We offer consultancy services on all process areas – smelting, scrap recycling, melting and casting (VDC, HDC, Twin Roll, Belt and Block), Hot Rolling (all configurations), cold rolling (all configurations), thermal treatments, extrusion, finishing processes, foil rolling (fin, converter, household, container etc.) and finishing.
